The Mandovi River carves its way through the Western Ghats long before anyone thinks to follow it. Then, deep in the Sanguem forest, the land simply falls away — and the river follows, dropping over 300 metres in four thunderous tiers, turning to white as it goes. Locals gave it a name that needed no explanation: Dudhs…agar, sea of milk. Reaching it is its own kind of ritual — a jeep ride through dense jungle, or a long trek along old railway tracks, past langurs and birdsong, the roar of the falls growing louder before it's ever seen. And then, all at once, it appears: a wall of white thunder, dwarfing everything around it, framed by forest as far as the eye can reach. People don't come here for a quick photograph. They come to stand at the base, feel the spray on their skin, and remember what it means to feel small in front of something vast.
